Terms of Use

Effective October 20, 2026 · Last reviewed October 20, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the Paycheck Correct iOS app and this website. Please read them before using the app or starting a subscription.

Provider: Jiankun Zhang (张健焜), an individual based in China, operating under the name Varnothing Works.

1. Agreement

These Terms are a legal agreement between you and Jiankun Zhang (张健焜), operating under the name Varnothing Works (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using Paycheck Correct, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

The app is licensed, not sold, to you. Apple’s standard end-user license agreement for the App Store also applies to the app. If these Terms and Apple’s standard EULA conflict, the standard EULA controls for the licensed application to the extent required by Apple.

2. What Paycheck Correct does

Paycheck Correct helps you record shifts, estimate gross pay before taxes, apply certain overtime rules, verify a paycheck, and export timesheets or backups. It is a record-keeping and estimation tool. It is not a payroll system, employer system, tax preparer, or source of legal advice.

3. Supported rules and estimates

Paycheck Correct currently supports federal 40-hour overtime, California daily 8/12 overtime, the California seventh-day rule, hospital 8/80 (federal FLSA §7(j)) and California hospital 8/80. It does not support every U.S. state or local rule, every industry, or every collective bargaining agreement.

Calculations are estimates based on the information you enter. They may be wrong if your inputs, workweek, rate, tips, bonuses, or employer rules are different from what the app assumes. Always compare the result with your pay stub, employer policies, and applicable law. Paycheck Correct is not legal, tax, or payroll advice.

4. Your data and backups

In v1, your data is stored locally on your device. There is no account and no cloud sync. You are responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for keeping backups. Use the export and backup features before changing devices, deleting the app, or resetting your phone.

We cannot recover data that was deleted from your device or that you did not export. Backups you export may contain sensitive payroll information; store them securely.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

The free plan includes the features described in the app. Premium is available as an auto-renewable annual subscription and a one-time lifetime purchase. Current U.S. prices are:

  • Annual: $19.99 per year, with a 7 days free trial for eligible new subscribers. The subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Lifetime: $49.99, a one-time purchase. It does not renew and does not include a trial.

Prices may vary by country or change over time. The price shown by the App Store at the time of purchase controls. Payment is charged to your Apple Account. Manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings, or through “Manage subscription” in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. We do not process payments or refunds directly. If you restore purchases, Apple and RevenueCat may verify your entitlement.

6. License and acceptable use

Subject to these Terms, you receive a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Paycheck Correct on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. You may not:

  • copy, modify, distribute, sell, or sublicense the app;
  • reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code, except where the law allows it;
  • use the app to violate law or the rights of others;
  • interfere with the app’s operation or security; or
  • use the app in a way that misrepresents an estimate as a guaranteed payment.

7. Third-party services

The app relies on Apple for distribution and payments, RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management, and PostHog for anonymous product analytics. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for Apple’s, RevenueCat’s, or PostHog’s independent operations.

8. Availability and changes

The app is offered on the U.S. App Store and is designed for U.S. W-2 hourly workers. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features, subject to applicable law and any rights you have as a paying customer. We may also update these Terms; the effective date on this page will change when we do.

9. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Paycheck Correct is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that calculations will be error-free or that the app will always be available.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any warranty or right that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable consumer law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost wages, lost data, or business interruption arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50 if you paid nothing.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing here limits mandatory consumer rights.

11. Apple

Apple is not a party to these Terms and has no obligation to provide support for Paycheck Correct. Apple may enforce these Terms as a third-party beneficiary. Your use of the app must also comply with the App Store terms and Apple’s standard EULA.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer rights, disputes will be brought in the courts located at our place of residence in China. Nothing in these Terms prevents you from exercising rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your place of residence.
