Privacy Policy

Effective October 20, 2026 · Last reviewed October 20, 2026

Paycheck Correct is a paycheck-protection app for U.S. hourly workers. This policy explains what data the app and this website handle, where it goes, and the choices you have.

Operator: Jiankun Zhang (张健焜), an individual based in China, operating under the name Varnothing Works.
Contact: legal@varnothing.worksfor privacy requests, or support@varnothing.worksfor product support.

1. The short version

  • Your employers, shifts, rates, tips, notes, and backups stay on your device.
  • There is no account and no server-side copy of your pay data in v1.
  • We use anonymous product analytics to understand onboarding, paywall, and feature usage. We do not send your rates, amounts, employer names, or notes to analytics.
  • Subscriptions and payments are handled by Apple and RevenueCat.
  • We do not sell personal information or show advertising in the app.

2. Data stored in the app

Paycheck Correct stores the information you enter — employer names, worksites, shifts, hourly rates, tips, bonuses, pay settings, payday settings, notes, and local backups — in a SQLite database on your iPhone. This data is used to calculate your weekly and pay-period estimates and to produce exports you request.

We do not receive this data. It is not uploaded to a Paycheck Correct account or cloud service. Local snapshots are also stored on your device. Export files and backups go wherever you choose to save or share them.

Deleting the app removes its local database and snapshots. Backups or CSV files you exported are separate files that you control.

3. Product analytics

We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how the app is used and where it fails. The app sends event names and limited properties, such as app version, device and operating-system information, the app identifier, onboarding step, paywall source and plan identifiers, overtime rule, pay period, workweek start, whether a payday was set, shift length in minutes, and yes/no flags for whether a shift had tips, a bonus, or a rate override. PostHog may also process your IP address and device/app metadata as part of receiving these events.

We do not send your hourly rate, pay amounts, employer names, worksite names, shift notes, or backup contents to PostHog. Analytics are used for product improvement, not advertising, and we do not sell this data.

We retain analytics events for up to 12 months, then delete or aggregate them. PostHog processes data in the United States and may use service providers in other countries.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

In-app purchases are processed by Apple. Apple receives your payment and purchase information under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive your payment card details or full billing address.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, product identifiers, transaction and entitlement status, and related purchase metadata. It does not receive your payment card details. RevenueCat’s processing is described in its own privacy policy.

5. Support email

If you email us, we receive your email address, name (if you include it), and the content of your message. We use it to answer your request and keep a record of the support conversation. We retain support emails for as long as needed to resolve the issue and meet legal obligations.

6. This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes request logs, including IP address, user agent, and requested URL, to deliver the site, protect it from abuse, and diagnose failures. Cloudflare may process this data in countries other than yours.

The website does not use advertising cookies. We do not run session replay or advertising pixels on this site. If we add privacy-friendly aggregate analytics later, we will update this policy before or when that changes.

The site contains links to the Apple App Store and email links. Those services handle data under their own policies.

7. Sharing

We share data only with service providers that help us run the product:

  • Apple — App Store distribution, payments, subscriptions, and refunds.
  • RevenueCat — subscription entitlement management.
  • PostHog — product analytics.
  • Cloudflare — website hosting and security.

We may also disclose data if required by law, to protect rights or safety, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell personal information.

8. International transfers

We operate from China, and the service providers above process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from the laws where you live.

9. Retention and deletion

  • App data: stored on your device until you delete it or delete the app.
  • Analytics: retained for up to 12 months, then deleted or aggregated.
  • Support emails: retained as long as needed for the request and legal obligations.
  • Website logs: retained according to Cloudflare’s settings and policies.

To request deletion of analytics or support data, emaillegal@varnothing.works. We may ask for information to verify the request. Deleting the app is the fastest way to remove the local data.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can contact us atlegal@varnothing.works. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

The app does not require an account, so most pay data is not accessible to us at all. If you contact us about analytics data, we will need enough information to identify the relevant events.

11. Children

Paycheck Correct is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

12. Changes

We may update this policy as the app or the law changes. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do. Material changes will be reflected on this page before they take effect.
