A contract or union rule that differs from the legal presets

Custom weekly contract

Use this only when a contract, union agreement, or pay stub shows a weekly threshold or multiplier that is different from Federal 40. It is not a legal preset.

Workweek35 hours
0–35hOver 35h → 2×

The threshold and multiplier are editable only in Settings → Pay rules → Custom weekly contract.

How it works

You choose the weekly threshold and the overtime multiplier. Hours over the threshold are paid at that multiplier; no daily or 14-day tiers are added.

The tiers

0–threshold
Regular rate
Over threshold
Your multiplier

Example

5 days × 9 hours = 45 hours; threshold 35, multiplier 2× → 10 overtime hours.

At $20/hour: 35 × $20 + 10 × $20 × 2 = $1,100 before taxes.

Who it applies to

Not tied to a statute. The employer's policy or collective bargaining agreement controls. If your pay stub matches a legal preset, use that preset instead.

Good to know

  • Custom weekly is intentionally kept out of onboarding. A legal preset is safer for most users.
  • Paycheck Correct still uses the weighted average of hourly earnings for the overtime premium; tips and bonuses are not included in the overtime base in v1.

Other supported rules

Need to check a paycheck? Use the rule that matches your pay stub, record the hours, and compare the gross pay. If the result looks wrong, bring the hours and the estimate to your employer or payroll provider.
